I’m hungry. My head hurts. Finally, here is a show that addresses these concerns. I have always been a fan of what Walter Robinson has casually referred to as his “things that make you feel better” paintings, and there are some good ones here that span the decades, from Chest Pain (1984), a bottle of Excedrin and a bottle of Vicks VapoRub, to more recent renderings of cheeseburgers and Honey (2014). However, the selection of such works is small compared to the numerous paintings of smoldering pulp-romance covers. All in all, this show is a welcome opportunity to see the different bodies of work Robinson has produced over the years all together, including bed sheet paintings, spin paintings, poignantly raw portraits of family and friends, and deadpan depictions of items and models from mail-order catalogues. —Cathy Lebowitz
