Gianni Jetzer has been the Director of the Swiss Institute in New York since 2006, and before that he was previously Director of the Neue Kunst Halle St.Gallen.
In his tenure at the Swiss Institute he’s brought to attention the works of emerging and under-appreciated artists, among them Manon, Marlo Pascual, and Walter Pfeiffer. Jetzer launched this season with five new shows (Das Institut, curated by Assistant Curator Piper Marshall; Jürge Lehni and Alex Rich; Kathrin Sonntag; Olivier Mosset and Amy Granat; Serge Becker) and a set of new walls in the Broadway space. In his cryptic profile for Art in America, Jetzer explains the changing circumstances, economic and programmatic, of New York non-profits: “[The walls] will last. I prefer to spend money on art production than on walls.”
