Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Badlands Unlimited has been kind enough to share an excerpt of Lilith Wes’s forthcoming novella, We Love Lucy, which they are releasing next month as part of “New Lovers,” a new series “devoted to publishing new works of erotica that explore the complexities bedeviling contemporary life, culture, and art today,” in the words of the imprint. I just gave it a quick skim, and it’s pretty sexy stuff.
On March 10, the Guggenheim will host a reading, book signing, and talk with Wes and two other authors whose books are in the series, Wednesday Black (with How to Train Your Virgin) and Andrea McGinty (God, I Don’t Even Know Your Name). Paul Chan, who founded Badlands and now runs it with Ian Cheng, Micaela Durand, and Matthew So, will moderate the talk. (It’s been organized in conjunction with Chan’s Hugo Boss Prize show, which opens at the museum on March 6.)
The excerpt follows below. Note that if you work in a moderately corporate environment you may want to wait until you’re home to give it a read. Badlands has also sent along some photos of people reading the “New Lovers” books to get you in the mood. They follow after the excerpt, and are probably okay to view at the office.
