The 1:54 Contemporary African Art Fair has announced that it will play host to 41 galleries from 18 countries for its fifth London edition, which is set to take place at Somerset House from October 5 to 8, during Frieze Week.
Eighteen galleries from Africa will be taking part in what the fair described in a statement as “its most geographically expansive edition yet.” For the second year, the special projects wing of the fair will host a series of satellite exhibitions, alongside FORUM, the fair’s educational program curated by Raw Material’s Koyo Kouoh. Further details of those events will be announced later in the year.
There will also be 11 newcomers to 1:54, including Mozambique’s Arte de Gema, Galerie 127 from Marrakech, Morroco, and SMO Contemporary Art, hailing from Lagos, Nigeria.
