Honestly I’m too spiritually exhausted to even attempt to add something of note, so I’m just going to leave this here: Fortune reports that yesterday a 9.14-carat pear-shaped pink diamond insanely referred to as “The Pink” sold for $18.3 million at Christie’s semi-annual Geneva sale.
The diamond—which the Christie’s website notes is accompanied with a Gemological Institute of America report affirming its status as “Fancy Vivid Pink”—went to what Christie’s international head of jewelry Rahul Kadakia called a “big mega Asian collector.” It should be noted that Monday also saw a record watch sale at Phillips in Geneva, with a World War II-era survivor going for $11.1 million. Watches, diamonds, and de Kooning are having a good week. Me personally, not so much!
