Galerie Eva Presenhuber now represents Jean-Marie Appriou, Lucas Blalock, Shara Hughes, and Magali Reus.
Appriou’s sculptures reference visual and popular culture, both ancient and modern. Some of his works have alluded to ancient Egyptian painting, Medieval portraiture, and pop music, among many other ideas and cultural objects.
Blalock is known for his photographs that make use of Photoshop editing techniques, often in surreal ways. His current show at Galerie Eva Presenhuber’s Zurich space, titled “Ketchup As a Vegetable,” exemplifies his interest in the intersection of dark wit, politics, and unglamorous subjects.
Hughes, whose paintings were featured in the 2017 Whitney Biennial, creates equally dynamic and whimsical landscapes. She has recently begun creating monoprints, some of which are on view at Pace Prints in New York, in a show called “Surprise Anxiety.”
Reus often works with industrial materials to make minimalistic sculptures as well as installations and videos. Her work grapples with the differences between machine-made and handmade materials.
With these four new additions, Galerie Eva Presenhuber’s roster now includes 46 artists.
