Galerie Templon Now Works With George Segal Estate in France

At this year’s Armory Show, which opens Wednesday, March 1, the booth of the Paris-based Galerie Templon will show a sculpture by George Segal, the late American sculptor known for his portraits of men and women that he typically made of white plaster bandages. The presentation marks the news that Templon is now the only gallery working with Segal’s estate in France.

The Segal sculpture, Woman Lying on a bed III, will take up most of Templon’s booth at the fair. According to directions laid out by the artist before his passing, the work will be shrouded in darkness, with a bright light shining through a window onto the piece’s subject.

Alongside Segal, Templon will display four other artists from its roster who fit the “nocturnal atmosphere” of the booth. Two of the works listed by the gallery include a spectral creation by Japanese sculptor Chiharu Shiota and a triptych of a model in various stage of undress by Kehinde Wiley.
