In a month when everyone is setting up outposts in San Francisco, here’s a little New York counter-programming: Greene Naftali is opening a temporary exhibition space in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. A Lutz Bacher show will inaugurate the space, which will be called Greene Naftali Garage, on April 8.
Greene Naftali Garage will be at 227 Leonard Street, at the former site of—yes—a garage. Its new location places it a few blocks from the Lorimer Street L train stop, and a few more subway stops away from many Bushwick galleries. In a statement, the gallery noted that the space will offer an alternative mode of presentation, unlike Greene Naftali’s white-cube Chelsea spaces. It’ll be open by appointment and from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
A release keeps the information about the Bacher show spare, but says that it will open April 8 and that more “dynamic, open, and spontaneous programming” will be coming to the Greene Naftali Garage in the future.
