EVAN JOSEPH/COURTESY SPRING STUDIOS, NEW YORK
Independent New York, the art fair that runs concurrently with the Armory Show in March, has shared the details of its 2016 edition. The fair, previously held at the former Dia building in Chelsea, which was recently sold, will open next year at Spring Studios on 50 Varick Street in Tribeca. The architectural scheme will be designed by Jonathan Caplan.
Independent has named Alix Dana an associate director of its New York iteration (the fair will also hold its inaugural event in Brussels next April). Dana, a former publicist at the PR firm Nadine Johnson, will oversee communications and daily operations, working alongside Elizabeth Dee, Independent’s co-founder, and Laura Mitterrand, the fair’s executive director.
