The Independent art fair, which holds annual expos in New York and Brussels, has announced the exhibitor list for its stateside edition. Featuring 50 galleries from 17 different global cities, the fair will once again open at Spring Studios in Tribeca in New York during Armory Week in March 2018, with a VIP preview March 8. White Columns director Matthew Higgs has returned as curatorial advisor.
Each year Independent alters its roster by switching up a third of its participants, and newcomers this year include New York galleries such as Cheim & Read, Marlborough Contemporary, Sikkema Jenkins & Co., and Magenta Plains. Also coming on board are European shops such as Standard (Oslo), Air de Paris, and Cologne’s Jan Kaps.
