COURTESY MARIANNE BOESKY
Last week, New York’s Marianne Boesky Gallery announced representation of Thornton Dial. This week brings news that the gallery now represents Berlin-based artist Björn Braun, whose first solo exhibition, titled “New Towns,” will open on November 1 at Boesky East (20 Clinton Street) and will run through December 20.
Braun, who often works with found objects, will show new floor sculptures made from boiled birds’ nests, 19th-century German landscape paintings cast in aluminum, and an interactive window installation in which a gallery window is replaced with birdseed “bricks.”
Braun has had solo shows in Germany at the Kunstverein Braunschweig, Meyer Riegger, Berlin, and the Kunstmuseum Stuttgart, and has appeared in group exhibitions at the Museum für Moderne Kunst, Frankfurt; Neues Museum, Weimar; and CAPC, Musée d’Art Contemporain de Bordeaux.
