Sopan Deb visited the Metropolitan Museum of Art yesterday, the first day it began charging mandatory admission to those from outside of New York, and discovered “kiosk facilitators,” “wayfinding ambassadors,” and electronic ticket machines. Deb, who lives in New York, got in for a dollar, without showing identification, while wearing his Yankees hat. [The New York Times]
Artists responded to the new policy, including Ai Weiwei, who said, “When I lived in New York in the 1980s, economically it was very bad for me. But I would come to the Met all the time and pay a penny.” [The New York Times]

Philanthropy
