After 78 years of life, Bernie Casey, an actor in such films as Cleopatra Jones and Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure—but also a poet and a painter whose canvases Maya Angelou liked—has died. To wit, a quote from Angelou on the occasion of a 2003 gallery show: “I am heartened by his action. For then I can comprehend his vision and some of my own.
