This year’s Igor Zabel Award for Culture and Theory will go to Joanna Mytkowska, the director of the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw, Poland. In a new lawsuit, a Dutch family has alleged that their country’s government holds more than 140 works that were seized from them by the Nazis. The government has denied the claims, adding that they bought the works fairly. [The New York Times]
Most of the board of the Ben Uri Gallery and Museum in London has resigned in response to the institution’s decision to sell 24 works from its collection at Sotheby’s. In a statement, the board said the museum was making a “grave mistake.” [The Art Newspaper]
