The November sales of Impressionist, modern, and contemporary art in New York took in $2.33 billion over the course of a ten-day auction spree, down from the May sales in New York, which took in a record $2.7 billion.
The sales wrapped up Friday afternoon with the conclusion of Christie’s Impressionist and modern art day sale at Rockefeller Plaza, bringing in an additional $33.1 million. The total haul for Christie’s this fall was $1.10 billion.
Sotheby’s bested its archrival, tallying $1.15 billion over its three evening sales and three day sales.
And Phillips brought in $77.4 million over two auctions.
