Nestled in a release for Pace Gallery’s upcoming Tim Hawkinson show is news that the gallery is planning to open a space at 537 West 24th Street, the former home of Hasted Kraeutler. The 24th Street location will be Pace Gallery’s third space in Chelsea, and its fourth in New York.
A release explains that the gallery is opening the space ahead of its previously planned multi-story flagship at 540 West 25th Street, which is set to be ready in 2018. Pace will take over the entirety of the new building’s 60,000 square feet. Its exhibition spaces will be spread across eight floors, and Pace will also have an outdoor area for the first time.
The 24th Street gallery will be inaugurated with a survey of Hawkinson’s work, titled “Counterclockwise.” The show, which features two decades of the artist’s multimedia work, opens on February 26.
