The Pollock-Krasner Foundation announced today that Paul Kasmin Gallery in New York now represents Lee Krasner, the Abstract Expressionist painter whose work has seen a renewed interest in recent years. Paul Kasmin is already preparing its first Krasner show for fall 2017.
In a news release, the Pollock-Krasner Foundation explained that it is the successor to the estates of Krasner and her husband, Jackson Pollock, “formed for the sole purpose of providing financial assistance, whether professional or personal, to individual visual artists of recognized merit.”
Krasner’s paintings have recently been the subject of a critical revival, thanks to various shows focusing on female Abstract Expressionists.
“Lee Krasner is frequently overlooked but remains one of the great artists of the 20th century,” Kasmin said in a statement. “I have held both Lee Krasner and the Pollock- Krasner Foundation in the highest esteem for many years. It is incredibly exciting for the gallery to begin this collaboration.”
