Paula Cooper Gallery to Temporarily Relocate Headquarters to West 26th Street

Citing construction set to begin in an adjacent building, New York’s Paula Cooper Gallery will temporarily move its headquarters, currently housed at 534 West 21st Street, to a 9,000-square-foot space located at 524 West 26th Street. The gallery has been at 534 West 21st Street since 1996, when it moved from SoHo to Chelsea. Cooper will remain on 26th Street for three years.

“I’m looking forward to it,” Paula Cooper told ARTnews in her booth at Switzerland’s Art Basel fair today. “We’ll be able to exhibit works in a completely different way. It will be exciting for the artists.”

The 26th Street space was previously home to Robert Miller Gallery, which departed from Chelsea in 2016. Programming will continue at Paula Cooper’s spaces at 521 and 529 West 21st Street.

Inaugurating the West 26th Street space will be an exhibition commemorating the gallery’s 50th anniversary that opens in mid-September. Works by Sol LeWitt, Jennifer Bartlett, Jackie Winsor, and Dan Flavin will be included in the show.
