Martin Wilson has joined Phillips auction house as its Chief General Counsel. Wilson, who will be based at the auction house’s London location, most recently served as global managing director and general counsel to the president of Christie’s, where he has worked for the past 20 years. Jonathan Illari, who is currently Phillips’s general counsel, will continue to oversee the auction house’s legal operations in North America.
Ed Dolman, the CEO of Phillips, said in a statement, “I have worked with Martin for many years and I am delighted he’s joining us at Phillips. . . . He brings with him considerable knowledge and a long track record of successfully negotiating high value art transactions and resolving complex disputes, with extensive experience working throughout Europe, Asia and the U.S.”
