The 15th edition of Art Basel Miami Beach opens Thursday, December 1, with VIP previews beginning tomorrow, November 30. The 2016 edition of the fair, which runs through Sunday, December 4, will bring 269 galleries from 29 countries to the Florida city. Of these exhibitors, 50 percent operate spaces in the Americas. Part 1 of the preview looks at the galleries in the main “Galleries” section of the fair. (Part 2 looks at the galleries participating in the other seven sections of the fair.) Among the highlights are Manuel Álvarez Bravo at New York’s Edwynn Houk Gallery, Ghada Amer at Berlin’s Kewenig, Teresa Margolles at Zurich’s Galerie Peter Kilchmann, Sam Durant at Blum & Poe, and David Hammons at New York’s Mnuchin Gallery.
