The 15th edition of Art Basel Miami Beach opens Thursday, December 1, with VIP previews beginning today. The 2016 edition of the fair, which runs through Sunday, December 4, will bring 269 galleries from 29 countries to city. Part 2 of the preview looks at the galleries and artists exhibiting in the seven smaller sections of the fair: Positions, for solo presentations; Survey, historical works; Kabinett, “distinct curated projects”; Nova, younger galleries; Edition, for editioned works and prints; Public, which includes public projects throughout Miami and performances; and Film, which is curated by David Gryn and Marian Masone. (Part 1 looks at the exhibitors participating in the main Galleries section of the fair.) Among the highlights are Liliana Porter at Houston’s Sicardi Gallery and Maura Axelrod’s Maurizio Cattelan: Be Right Back in Film, Ibrahim El-Salahi at London’s Vigo in Survey, and a performance by drag queen Lady Bunny.
