The third edition of Photo London opens to the public on Thursday, May 18, with a preview day on Wednesday, May 17. The fair brings together close to 100 exhibitors from nearly 20 countries—drawing heavily from London, as well as five other cities in the United Kingdom—to the Somerset House on the banks of the River Thames. (The Neoclassical building, which hosted the first Royal Academy Exhibition by the Royal Academy of Arts in 1780, sits on the site of a former Tudor palace that served as a storied residence during various phases of the English monarchy.) Among the highlights are Robert Mapplethorpe at London’s Alison Jacques Gallery, Don McCullin at Hamiltons of London, and Jill Freedman at New York’s Steven Kasher Gallery.
