This week at Art Basel Miami Beach, New York’s Sean Kelly gallery will present an activation of its “Collect Wisely” campaign, which aims to provoke conversation around collecting and connoisseurship.
At the gallery’s booth in Miami, fairgoers will be invited to sit in an Arne Jacobsen Egg Chair facing a designated wall while, on a rotating schedule, recorded descriptions by artists of their works play over headphones. Artists to be featured on this special wall are Callum Innes, Idris Khan, Hugo McCloud, Shahzia Sikander, and Janaina Tschäpe.
Elsewhere in its booth, Sean Kelly will also feature work from Marina Abramović, James Casebere, Julian Charrière, Jose Dávila, and Kehinde Wiley.
Kelly unveiled his “Collect Wisely” campaign earlier this year at Frieze New York, where he interviewed collectors in his booth for a podcast that the gallery runs.
