The third edition of the Seattle Art Fair—slated for August 3–6 at the CenturyLink Field Event Center adjacent to the big stadium that plays home to the Seattle Seahawks—has added a slate of programming to support the presentations of 84 exhibitors from nine countries (including 50 galleries from the Pacific Rim). Daily talks and installations to be interspersed throughout areas surrounding the fair were conceived, according to a statement, to “examine the many ways today’s artists engage with architecture and design, public space, and the histories and conditions of social realism.”
Highlights include a showing of works from Jenny Holzer’s “The Survival Series,” from the early ’80s, in the neighborhood of Pioneer Square, an installation by Los Angeles–based artists Dylan Mira and Erika Vogt that will treat Union Station to airs of inspiration from Korean spas, and a textiles/fashion presentation by the artist Ellen Lesperance devoted to W.I.T.C.H. (Women’s International Terrorist Conspiracy from Hell). Daily talks during the fair will include dialogues between Gerard & Kelly and Miwon Kwon as well Clyde Petersen with Tariqa Waters, among others.
