Hot on the heels of a fun foray into Midtown Manhattan, Spring/Break is once again taking its show on the road. Or, more accurately, it’s taking its show across the East River to City Point, a new mixed-use development in Downtown Brooklyn, and will host a new edition of the satellite fair that runs concurrent with Frieze New York. It will open May 6, and stay open through May 14.
This will be the curator-driven fair’s first Brooklyn edition. It will also mark a break from the show’s previous exhibition locales, which all took place in underused historic New York buildings. What should remain consistent is the kooky, energetic selection of large scale installations and immersive projects that have come to define the show’s identity.
In a statement, Spring/Break co-founder Ambre Kelly described the decision to venture into Brooklyn as a “natural extension” of their approach to “finding ways to engage with the public by showing contemporary art in atypical environments.”
