The Untitled art fair—which apparently styles itself “Untitled, Art”—announced today that it will host a second fair, in San Francisco, in January 2017, at Pier 70, in the city’s Dogpatch neighborhood. Untitled has since 2012 staged a fair every December in Miami Beach during Art Basel.
Untitled said in a release that it conducted several years of research and analysis before settling on San Francisco as a second location. An excerpt:
“Untitled is poised to inaugurate a long-term platform that will contribute to and grow alongside of the pioneering community in the Bay Area—home to a number of the world’s top collectors, and a hub for industries such as health care, bio-tech, high-tech, real estate, finance, venture capital and NGOs.”
This news comes as the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art plans to reopen following an expansion project, and Gagosian Gallery gets ready to open a gallery in the city, its 16th. Anton Kreps and Anton Kern have also said they will set up a temporary location in the city next month.
