COURTESY TIMOTHY TAYLOR
Today, London-based gallery Timothy Taylor announced its representation of Shezad Dawood and Gabriel de la Mora. The two artists will join a roster that includes Alex Katz, Josephine Meckseper, and Kiki Smith.
Dawood is known for his film-based work, which often engages with obscure belief systems and the occult and influences the London-based artist’s textiles, paintings, sculptures, and photographs. Dawood, whose first U.S. solo show will open on Friday at Pioneer Works in Red Hook, Brooklyn, is currently represented in New York by Jane Lombard Gallery.
De la Mora, who works in Mexico City, is best known for his unclassifiable work that involves the collection of useless objects. These materials are then exhibited to demonstrate time’s voiding effect, as the objects become useless only after people have handled them and thrown them away. De la Mora is currently represented by Sicardi Gallery in Houston, Texas.
