Aguas, an artist-run curatorial platform founded by Rodrigue Mouchez in 2017, will be the guest curator of the seventh edition of Untitled, Miami Beach fair, which will take place from December 5 to 9. Together with Untitled’s executive director and artistic director, Manuela Mozo and Omar Lopez-Chahoud, respectively, Aguas will select international galleries and curate a series of special projects to be installed throughout the fair.
The platform seeks to establish dialogues and collaborations between artists from Europe and Latin America through exhibitions, talks, and publications, an ethos that resonated with the fair’s leadership. Referencing gallery share programs like Condo and Vacation, Mozo said in a statement, “When considering a curatorial guest for Untitled, Miami Beach, I wanted to incorporate the collaborative energy that has recently surfaced in the art world.”
Aguas’s past projects have included the exhibition “Agua del día,” which opened in Mexico City’s El Quinto Piso Galeria earlier this year and will travel to Brussels’s Bâtiment Vanderborght later this month. The show features work by Martin Belou, Aline Bouvy, and Javier Peñalosa, among others.
“Aguas’s projects are initiated by artists and focus more on their processes than on the commercial value of the works, considering the production of the works and the exhibition as a whole,” Mouchez said in a statement.
