New York’s 303 Gallery announced today that it now represents Marina Pinsky, the young Brussels-based photographer whose work is currently on view in the 2015 iteration of “New Photography” series, “Ocean of Images,” at the Museum of Modern Art. The announcement comes on the opening day of her Kunsthalle Basel solo exhibition, her largest show to date.
Pinsky’s photography, which the artist sometimes shows alongside sculptures, is conceptual and difficult to explain. A release says that her practice “examines the way in which we can read images as material, spatial, and ideological models of the world,” and that they combine digital and analog techniques as a way of showing the virtual and digital spheres becoming one in the same. In the past, however, Pinsky has also mimicked the look of ads—she’s photographed a Windex bottle aimed straight at the camera, making it a dangerous object rather than a desirable one.
Pinsky is also represented in Brussels and New York by Clearing.
