COURTESY ABSOLUT
Absolut announced the nominees for its 2017 Absolut Art Award today. In total, there are 49 nominees across two categories—Art Work and Art Writing.
Both awards come with a €20,000 (about $22,500) prize, along with an additional €100,000 ($112,400) toward an upcoming project for the Art Work category, and an additional €25,000 ($28,100) toward a new publication for the Art Writing category.
The 39 artist nominees were chosen by Philippe Pirotte, Thelma Golden, Nan Oforiatta-Ayim, Venus Lau, François Quintin, Solveig Øvstebø, Bart van der Heide, Diana Campbell Betancourt, Sohrab Mohebbi, and Michelle Kuo. In January, a jury led by Daniel Birnbaum will reveal the five finalists.
