At the end of this year, Alyson Baker will step down from her post as executive director of the Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum in Ridgefield, Connecticut. While the museum’s board searches for a new executive director, the Aldrich’s deputy director, Tracy Moore, and its exhibitions director, Richard Klein, will serve as interim co-directors starting in January 2018.
Baker has been executive director of the Aldrich for the past six years. She took the reins from Harry Philbrick in July 2011, and has since curated shows at the museum and overseen the rebranding of the institution’s identity. Under her leadership, the museum was accredited by the American Alliance of Museums.
“I am proud to have contributed to The Aldrich’s remarkable 53-year legacy of supporting artists at critical moments in their careers, making influential and prescient curatorial choices that have a significant impact on the field, and developing innovative strategies for introducing and interpreting contemporary art for generations of audiences,” Baker said in a statement. “While I look forward to my next chapter and new opportunities, I will always be an admirer and advocate of The Aldrich.” A release did not include details about Baker’s future plans.
