The Dallas Museum of Art has appointed Anna Katherine Brodbeck its new senior curator of contemporary art, filling a position that has been vacant since the departure of Gavin Delahunty in 2017.
For the past two years, Brodbeck has been an associate curator at the museum. In that time, she organized a number of contemporary art–focused exhibitions, including a forthcoming survey of paintings from Jonas Wood. In her new post, Brodbeck will oversee the institution’s contemporary art collection, programming, exhibitions, and scholarship.
“Our position in an encyclopedic museum has allowed us to reach across geography, time, and media to better serve our audiences by questioning outdated hierarchies and providing holistic historic contexts,” Brodbeck said in a statement. “Through upcoming acquisitions, exhibitions, and programming, I look forward to furthering our commitment to demonstrating the transnational development of postwar art in relevant ways.”
