ARTnews was joined by advisors, dealers, collectors, and patrons to celebrate the publication of its Fall 2016 issue and the release of its annual “World’s Top 200 Collectors” list with a cocktail party and panel discussion at the Neue Galerie in New York. Speakers at the event, which was sponsored by Herrick Feinstein and Athena Art Finance, were collector Pamela Joyner, Athena CEO Andrea Danese, art advisor Mary Hoeveler, and Herrick Feinstein associate Jason Kleinman. The subject of the discussion was “Art Collecting in Uncertain Times,” and the conversation ranged from mission-based collecting to the importance of museums diversifying their collections, from collection stewardship and financing to the potential effects on the art market of the U.S. presidential election and Brexit. Art advisor Elizabeth Szancer, collector Nancy Portnoy, writer Bob Colacello, art dealer Janis Cecil, and Art in America editor Lindsay Pollock were among the evening’s attendees.
