NEW YORK—London-based Bloomsbury Auctions, which specializes in books and works on paper, has launched a photographs department in New York.
John Cowey, a former gallery manager at Edwynn Houk Gallery, was appointed head of the department. Hannah Hayden, who formerly worked at Phillips, de Pury & Company as manager of client development, was appointed junior specialist. Photography specialist Rick Wester, of Rick Wester Fine Art, was named an international consultant. Wester was international director of the photographs department at Christie’s, and formerly headed the photographs department at Phillips.
Bloomsbury’s inaugural sale of photographs is scheduled for Oct. 16–17 at its New York saleroom near Rockefeller Center.
