Pictures at an Exhibition presents images of one notable show every weekday.
Today’s show: “Blue Black” is on view at Pulitzer Arts Foundation in St. Louis, Missouri, through Saturday, October 7. The group exhibition, which is curated by the artist Glenn Ligon, presents over 50 works by Kerry James Marshall, Carrie Mae Weems, Chris Ofili, David Hammons, Kara Walker, Derek Jarman, Mary Heilmann, and more. The show takes its names from a work by Ellsworth Kelly included in the exhibition in the same gallery as Ligon’s A Small Band (2015), which spells out the words “blues,” “blood,” and “bruise” in neon.
