Cara Starke Appointed Director of Pulitzer Arts Foundation

Cara Starke has been named the director of the Pulitzer Arts Foundation, the institution announced today. Founded in St. Louis in 2001, the non-collecting institution is in the midst of an expansion project that will add 3,700 square feet for “exhibitions, programs, and artist-driven activities.”

Starke joins the Pulitzer from Creative Time, where she has served as director of exhibitions since 2011. (She oversaw numerous projects, including Nick Cave’s Heard NY performance at Grand Central and Tom Sachs’s Mars installation at the Park Avenue Armory.) She’ll begin her new job in July.

“Cara’s leadership and commitment to engaging communities with a diverse range of art and artists make her an ideal choice to lead the Pulitzer as it enters its next phase of development,” said William Bush, the Pulitzer’s board president.
