COURTESY ACTION BUREAU
Critic, curator, and freelance arts writer Catherine Taft has been named deputy director of Los Angeles arts nonprofit LAXART, Artforum has reported. Taft has most recently served as assistant curator at the Whitney Museum, where she helped to organize the new building’s inaugural exhibition, “America Is Hard To See.”
The magazine notes that Taft had previously worked as curatorial associate in the department of contemporary art and architecture at the Getty Research Institute, where she notably assisted in the organization of the 2011 initiative “Pacific Standard Time: Art in Los Angeles.” She is also a member of the curatorial collective Action Bureau.
