For the past few weeks the question of the 2015 budget for the Centre Pompidou-Metz, the Pompidou Center’s outpost in Lorraine, France, has been up in the air. Now, local news site Tout-Metz reports, the matter has been settled.
Visitors last year totaled 350,000, down from 800,000 when it first opened in 2010, and this year the museum was facing a €1 million shortfall ($1.16 million) in its annual budget (which stands at €12 million, or $13.93 million), after the withdrawal of that amount by the Regional Council of Lorraine.
All that has been cleared up, Tout-Metz reports, as various local governments have banded together to replace the money. But 350,000 visitors signals a 5-percent increase in visitors over the previous year, so the museum seems on its way to settling its issues.
