After a four-year stint at the Museum Folkwang in Essen, Germany, Florian Ebner will be the chief of photography of Paris’s Centre Pompidou. He will begin in his new position on July 1.
Ebner has worked at the Museum Folkwang since 2012. Prior to that, he had been the Braunschweig Photography Museum’s director, from 2009 to 2012. He also curated the 2015 Venice Biennale’s German Pavilion, which featured work by Olaf Nicolai, Hito Steyerl, Tobias Zielony, and Jasmina Metwaly and Philip Rizk.
The Centre Pompidou’s former chief of photography was Clément Chéroux, who left to become the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art’s senior curator of photography.
