NEW YORK—Christie’s appointed Lisa King chief operating officer and group managing director of Christie’s International late last month. King, who was previously international managing director for auction and private sales, will assume responsibility for the house’s international business strategy, overseeing a wide range of areas, including auction and private sales, marketing, business development, human resources, operations, information technology, finance, legal, and other business lines such as Christie’s Great Estates, art storage services, insurance and education. King, who joined Christie’s in 1996, was formerly a lawyer and a senior manager at a number of law firms, most recently at Herbert Smith in London, where she was head of information and education.
