The College Art Association has announced details for its 105th annual conference, to be held in New York next February.
The conference, which will run from February 15 to 18 with the theme “myCAA,” will focus on opening up dialogue within the association’s large membership—some 4,000 attendees participate in over 270 sessions and talks at each conference. With this as the guiding principle, CAA announced several panels that will aim “to address art, politics, and contemporary society,” according to a press release. Those panels include “Public Art in the Era of Black Lives Matter,” “When Art Claims to do Good: Assessing the Impact of Socially Engaged Art,” and “Queer(ing) Art History.”
Additionally, the organization announced that its keynote address will be given by Mary Miller, a professor at Yale focusing on Mesoamerican and Mayan art. The event’s two Distinguished Artist Interviews will be with Coco Fusco, by UCLA professor Steven Nelson, and Katherine Bradford, by artist Judith Bernstein.
