Construction Will Continue on the Broad Despite Looming Lawsuit

Both sides in a lawsuit over rising construction costs at the Broad Collection in downtown Los Angeles have informally agreed to wait until the building is complete before continuing with litigation. The Broad alleges that the subcontractor, Seele Inc., “drove up costs by at least $19.8 million and set the museum’s planned 2014 opening back by at least 15 months” due to a “lack of skill,” according to the Los Angeles Times. According to court documents quoted by the Times, attorneys for Seele are “anxious to explore the specious basis of the allegations.” The Broad is scheduled to open sometime in 2015.
