David Rubenstein Gives $25 M. for Arts Funding At Duke

The New York Times reported today that the businessman, philanthropist, and Carlyle Group co-founder David M. Rubenstein is giving a $25 million gift to support arts programming at his alama mater, Duke University.

With the addition of this most recent gift, Rubeinstein—a class of 1970 grad at Duke—has given almost $100 million to the institution over the years. His latest contribution will go toward funding a new 71,000-square-foot arts building, which will include a dance studio, theaters, and classrooms. Its projected cost is $50 million.

Past Rubenstein gifts to Duke include support for the Sanford School of Public Policy, fellowship and faculty programs, and the David M. Rubenstein Rare Book and Manuscript Library.
