A notebook belonging to the rapper Drake that was discovered in a dumpster is now being sold online for $32,500.
TMZ reported Sunday that the signed book—which was unearthed close to a furniture factory that once belonged to the rapper’s grandfather in Toronto—is currently up for sale on the website of the memorabilia company Moments in Time. It is believed to date to between 2002 and 2005. Around 20 pages long, it is chock-full of verses, songs, and thoughts from the rapper, who at this point was still a working actor on the legendary Canadian teen drama franchise Degrassi: The Next Generation.
Let’s compare this asking price to previous music auctions covered on this website: in 2017, Moments in Time had for sale three pages of notebook paper used by the late rapper Tupac to pen the lyrics to his classic “Dear Mama” for $25,000 each. In 2015, the auction house Julien’s Live sold the cardigan worn by Kurt Cobain on his band Nirvana’s MTV Unplugged performance. The starting price? $4,000. The final hammer? $140,800.
This isn’t the only newsworthy Drake item of the day. At last night’s Grammys, his track “God’s Plan” won an award for best rap song, but it was his acceptance that made headlines: he got cut off mid-speech.
