Starting this July, the Frick Collection in New York will being offering pay-what-you-wish admission on Wednesday afternoons, from 2 to 6 p.m. Previously, the museum had applied that admissions policy to Sunday mornings, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
In a release, the museum explained today that change in admissions policy follows the introduction of the First Fridays program, which features a series of events and programming on the first Friday night of each month. On those nights, the museum now comps all admissions fees.
“By shifting our pay-what-you-wish period to Wednesdays, we hope to accommodate those audiences who aren’t able to take advantage of these free Friday programs,” Frick director Ian Wardropper said in a statement.
