Pictures at an Exhibition presents images of one notable show every weekday.
Today’s show: “Give a damn.” is on view at Tang Teaching Museum and Art Gallery at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York, through Saturday, September 30. The group exhibition, which draws from the museum’s collection, presents work “by artists who, quite simply, give a damn about the world around them and the people in it,” according to exhibition materials. “Not all artists included in the exhibition identify as activists, but through their art and its interpretations, they become advocates for freedom, equality, justice, and understanding.” The show includes work by Dawoud Bey, Jeffrey Gibson, Jane Irish, Corita Kent, Zanele Muholi, Deborah Roberts, Wendy Red Star, Lari Pittman, archival objects related to the Black Panther Party, and three recently acquired serigraphs from the atelier of Self Help Graphics & Art in Los Angeles made for the organization’s annual Día de los Muertos celebrations.
