Artforum reports that the Guggenheim Foundation has approved an “agreement governing the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao for another twenty years.”
The contract comes about when Guggenheim satellites in other locales are under scrutiny. In Finland, where one is planned for Helsinki, The New York Times writes that “the Guggenheim’s proposal has divided pro-business supporters who favor the attention a new museum would bring and left-of-center advocates who had raised questions about how much it might cost to build.” And, of course, the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi continues to draw fire for the conditions under which the people building it work.
