GEHRY PARTNERS
Yesterday, Architectural Record reported that Gehry Partners has released the renderings for Los Angeles–based architect Frank Gehry’s proposed $300 million mixed-used development in the heart of L.A.’s Sunset Strip.
The renderings show five unique structures spread across a 2.6-acre site, anchored by a plaza, and a complex full of residential units. Architectural Record‘s Anna Fixsen describes the central unit as “a white tubular façade… that is evocative of a sea anemone.” The development will also include commercial buildings, which will be made from what Fixsen refers to as “glass with cross-laminated timber mullions.”
Gehry, who is also working with city officials to draft a redevelopment of the L.A. River, had this to say: “[Residents and visitors] should feel that they are part of L.A., a part of L.A. that has a culture that comes with it.”
