The Kochi-Muziris Biennale, which has quickly become one of the most closely watched regularly scheduled international exhibitions after its first two editions, announced plans today for its third, which will run from December 12, 2016, through March 29, 2017, in Kochi, India. Titled “Forming in the Pupil of an Eye,” the show will feature at least 89 artists, including Aki Sasamoto, Alicja Kwade, Stan Douglas, Camille Norment, and Dia Mehta Bhupal. About a third of the artists reside in India. The exhibition’s curator, Sudarshan Shetty, had this to say in a news release: “My curatorial approach started as a conversation between different forms and approaches to art practice. I see the biennale as existing in process, something which flows, and I wanted to engage artists whose practices will create works that exist not only for the duration of the biennale, but on into the time beyond.”
The list of participating artists follows below. Organizers said that a few names may be added in the coming weeks, so this may not be a 100 percent complete list.
