Here’s the Artist List for the Bienal de São Paulo 2016

Today the organizers of the 32nd Bienal de São Paulo revealed the 81 artists they have invited to their show. Making the cut are Pierre Huyghe, Pope.L, Park McArthur, and Pia Lindman—and those are just a few of the names starting with the letter P! The full list, which follows below (intriguingly alphabetized according to first name by the biennial), augments an incomplete roster of 54 names released in early December. The press statement with the news emphasized that more than half of the artists are women—gender parity remains something of a rarity in major international art exhibitions—and that a significant percentage were born after 1970, making them in their mid-40s or younger.

The curator of this year’s biennial is Jochen Volz, along with co-curators Gabi Ngcobo, Júlia Rebouças, Lars Bang Larsen, and Sofía Olascoaga. Titled “Incerteza Viva” (Live Uncertainty), it will run this year from September 10 through December 11 at São Paulo’s Ciccillo Matarazzo Pavilion.
